Several members of staff are qualified first aiders. If your child has a medical condition that requires regular medication we will ask you to complete a health plan for your child and ask you to talk to us about how we can help.

It is important to keep records up to date so we ask us to let you know a daytime telephone number for contact in emergencies.

Please keep us informed of any changes to telephone numbers both home and mobile or to any other information that we hold about your child e.g. – asthma or allergy etc.

If your child is unwell you should make contact with the school on the first day of absence (the school office is open from 8.30 am – or a message can be left by selecting the option to report your child absent when you dial in). This should then be followed up with a letter confirming your child’s absence when they return to school.

We would also appreciate a note if your child needs to be excused from swimming or PE.

If your child requires medication please see the link to our policy on managing medicines. We are only able to give prescribed medicines where it would be detrimental to a child’s health if the medicine were not administered during the school day. St John’s can only accept medicines that have been prescribed by a doctor, dentist, nurse prescriber or pharmacist prescriber.
